Engineering combines knowledge of mathematical & natural sciences gained by study, experience & practice in applying judgement to develop ways to utilise, economically, the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of mankind. It has been the building block of civilisation since the beginning of time. Today, it is a field that propels a NATION to MODERNITY.
Malaysia is experiencing mushrooming of higher education institutions as a result of the country pushed to be an education hub. Ensuring provision of quality programmes is thus the essential approach. In Malaysia, places are limited to only public institutions generally limited to Malaysian. The academic standards are substantially equivalent accredited by Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA). For engineering programmes, the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC), designated by the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) facilitates the accreditation process of those programmes.
The commitment by IEM is to give potential students the understanding on engineering programme that will allow them to take up leading roles in well-known global companies and leading-edge organisations the world over.

Biodata of Speakers:
Ir. Dr. Abu Bakar Mahat
Ir. Dr. Abu Bakar Mahat holds a Master and Doctorate Degrees in the field of Manufacturing Technology from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), United Kingdom in 1983 and 1987. He has substantial industrial experience that covers many technical and management functions as well as business development and project implementation. Currently, he is a Consultant/ Professor(Industry) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaya.
Ir. Dr. Abu Bakar Mahat is an appointed Panel Member of Examiners Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) since 2005 and as Panel Member of Institutional Audit by MQA since 2010. He is a reputable academician and professional in the field of Mechanical and Manufacturing as Corporate Member of IEM (MEIM), registered Professional Engineer with BEM (PEng), Corporate Member of Institution of Mechanical Engineer, UK (MIMechE) and a Chartered Engineer, UK (CEng).
